A different astronomy and space science related image is featured each day, along with a brief explanation.

I've watched this on an endless loop for 15 minutes.
@chiller I still have some of the dog's stuff 18 months after he died. Partly because I found it hard to get rid of the things he really loved, but also, I consider myself a dog person and I'm just living life with a part missing right now. One day, there will be another little chap to take on that stuff, but right now I haven't the emotional capacity to commit to another journey like that.

As I have just migrated servers maybe I need to post another photo today just so my time line doesn't look so sad.
This image was taken in Fortuna Bay, South Georgia. The juvenile king penguins are very inquisitive and so anything new that appears needs to be investigated. In this case one of the other photographers had left his camera and that was all they needed to come up and have a look. Maybe they saw themselves in the lens.

@RathRaithleann Stunning! We visited Iceland when they had an extreme weather event last March. Such terrifying beauty. You can understand why they believe so strongly in the supernatural, trolls and elves. Magical place.

It took an hour's journey in an off road super jeep in deep snow and over rough terrain to get down to these falls and then a significant hike down a very steep incline carrying heavy camera gear and tripod in knee and thigh deep snow... quite a feat while snowing heavily and battling very strong winds...
Standing at twenty metres tall, it plummets into a beautiful blue lagoon. Only 100-150 people get to see these falls annually in winter as it's off the tourist trail, so it was quite a privilege to photograph them and we had the place to ourselves... it was a magnificent sight to see...
