I'm an internet thing, and a maker. Food nerd. Reader, writer, artist. I play games. My philosophy: less is more, unless it's chocolate. Also a friendly agitator.

Here to meet interesting people, make community, and get away from the algorithm-driven mindset.

Day before St Paddy's, a WFO day for me, I made a stew to celebrate and enough to ensure I don't have to hurry home to cook.

Well now I won't have to hurry home to cook for the rest of the week because my meal prep math was done in a fasted state and I may have over estimated a wee bit.

Like, five days and half the neighborhood "wee bit".

Dilly dallying before work this morning, I was comparing laptop options.

Three hours later I dropped $872 on my car instead. 😑

I guess I'm waiting on a new replacement laptop for a bit. At least I have new tires and the TPM indicator light is gone.

@weaver @feralthoughts This is such an important, but little known, point.‼️⭐

Some of us had the luxury of experiencing the internet pre-techbro era, where we learned how it worked and knew all the ways it could be used and accessed. Especially those of us in wealthy countries. So many parts of the world, however, did not. These countries only know the capitalist, colonialist, filter of Facebook and it's ilk, only recently gaining access through these "services".

@jeffluszcz It's so weird they do that, too. Business basics mantra: location, location, location! Drive that foot traffic!

But here we are, watching businesses self destruct because they can't math the difference between a single person in a car vs multiple people on bikes.

@swanksalot If this works, super exciting. But also, Indiana is not the state I would have expected to lead the charge on this one.

It's a non-rainy weekend, of course I'm going to have a cold that keeps me stuck inside. ☀️

I don't get why brains do this... Why is it that when I get sick, I am so motivated to do all the things but I'm flopped out in bed, too wiped to do anything? The least it could do is kick in lazy brain mode and let me sleep.

We doin' it! Extension cord rated for heavy duty construction equipment (might be overkill but I am cautious) running from my unit's outdoor outlet.

According to the linked article "Amp Chart and Household Devices", even the standard waffle maker (8.3) is technically pulling at a higher amperage than my car (8). I think we're good here.

I'm in northern Dallas, TX (wealthier, health-forward burb) and I'm feeling a whole new appreciation for the efforts of the Seattle metro areas in terms of pedestrian care.

No sidewalks or bike lanes here, just miles and miles of roads. If you do get lucky and find a sidewalk, good lawd don't be disabled, pushing a stroller, or have a friend with you. Car culture is thick.

Mid-Ohio Valley Climate Corner: How my life changed driving a used #EV

"The #RangeAnxiety was gone after our second road trip because we knew how to find charging and the time it adds. We have a slower charge rate compared to newer and high end cars for home and DC fast charging, but it is kind of nice to be forced to stop and stretch and see the local areas. We’re not stuck for hours, sometimes just 5 minutes up to 45, or we charge at the hotel when we stay overnight."

Mid-Ohio Valley Climate Corner: How my life changed driving a used EV

In October 2023 I wrote “Electrify The MOV it just makes cents” and said I would buy an EV. Little did I know I would find a used EV with 20k miles on it under $25k just after Thanksgiving (and under $20k after federal incentives for a used EV). My wife and I did calculations […]
