@juliewebgirl technical question: wouldn't the people throwing the Glitter be glittered for weeks as well? And therefore taken as ICE agents?

Forgive me, I'm an armchair fashionista, so please take this with a grain of salt. I welcome boosts if fellow mastodonians would like to see wider contribution to the topic.

I propose, for this thought-experiment on the rapid delivery of fashion in a hypothetical European dystopia, that:

- the best delivery system for a glitter + adhesive mix intended for application to a person's clothes would be a brush of some kind, thus helping avoid application to the mouth and eyes. I would suggest some sort of clutch purse whose outer is removed or springs back to expose the (previously airtight) compartment of glitter and glue, but I'm sure there are countless alternatives.

- empty vehicles could be decorated by - after ascertaining the prevailing wind direction and taking safety measures - delivering a glitter/glue mix via some kind of disposable leaf-blower apparatus. This could permit application avoiding the windscreen and front windows of the vehicle. The person applying would of course wear a disposable boiler-suit and PPE, although I accept it would be a shame to dispose of, because it will probably look fabulous.

- there might be merit in having separate teams for adhesive-application and for operating the glitter-thrower. The former might be suited to reserved individuals operating in close personal space, and the latter might be a good fit for extroverts.

@wonka @superjan73 @juliewebgirl The problem I see with paintball guns is that they look too much like real guns and we know how twitchy and prone to violence US law enforcement can be.
Bright colored party balloons are less threatening. But absolutely fill those balloons with odorant-laced water and glitter. Make these people's families cringe when they come home twinkling and smelling of rotten eggs.

@torf @juliewebgirl not really. I will be safe from ice in Germany but from the micro plastic washed in the ocean getting eaten by the fish I eat I am not. Trump being this way is kind of a predictable shit show majority of Americans voted for (just like brexit). It's difficult to find sympathy for a hell Americans actively voted for but at least don't drag our ocean in with this.

But since it's a democratic elected leader voted by majority out of stupidity, doesn't mean a minority is entitled to make everyone in the world suffer from it and act unhinged. If you feel personally threatened by ice you are welcome to apply as refugee in my country.

Germany also had a lot of protests against Merz and now he is our democratic elect leader we kind of have to suck it up for 4 years.

Should I also remind how much environmental damage is generated during military actions on the battlefields, which are not so far away from EU now and do have very high probability to come much closer?

I mean, I would be happy if US protesters could protest their protests in an environmentally friendly way, but I would hesitate to ask them to politely surrender because of failure to maintain low environmental impact of their efforts to protect themselves.

Little Germany takes in 10 times as much refugees a year than the maximum imposed on USA. Hate speech against minorities count here not as free speech and are illegal (if that is what you mean with personal percularities). Yes we have Merz currently breaking EU law but we still have functioning courts that are protected now under constitution.

Yes those were the vote percentages, but to be clear only 22% of people in the US voted for Trump (77M of 348M)… the nation is not “split” as it it often characterized but has been taken over by a dangerous minority.

To your point though; the fight against fascism requires a fight every day with every tool available, and on Nov 5 most Americans left an easy and available tool unused.

I can't stand to see people complain about the election when they didn't vote. They kick democracy in the face and complain why democracy is going down.

Sadly the majority of the nation did not vote for trump unless you listen to the orange buffoon who insist they did. Trump had 77,284,118 votes, or 49.8 percent of the votes cast. Harris had 74,999,166 votes or 48.3 percent of the votes cast. Voter turnout in 2024 was 63.9 percent.150 million Americans voted for the two parties or smaller ones. Close to 90 million did not vote at all. So in a way they voted for trump.

@juliewebgirl I did a quick search. Glitter has been used in protests before, but I don't see any sign of it used recently. This looks like it was originally a Threads post. I haven't found any corroboration.

In particular, I can't find any video, and I'd expect anyone doing that today would take video.

(recent protesters have used water guns with paint, which is probably easier to control than glitter.)
