Is there any way to filter for local introductions? I'm often curious when I see new members joining, but rarely catch if/when they make an intro.

Draw a one centimetre square on your finger & hold it towards the Sun ๐Ÿ‘†

Now consider that some 60 billion neutrinos hit it every second, created by nuclear fusion in the solar core 500 seconds ago ๐Ÿ™€

Even if itโ€™s nighttime & your finger has to point down through Earthโ€™s surface โ€“ they donโ€™t care ๐Ÿ™ƒ

But if it makes you feel better, there are only about 2 solar neutrinos in each cubic centimetre of you at any given instant ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Well, plus another 300 from the Big Bang ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Last year we bought a heat pump hot water heater, and saved $900 between the tax refund and the DCSEU rebate, and it's only going to be better this year.

There's enough tax incentives out now for energy efficiency purchases that everybody should be thinking about upgrades:

DC residents should also double check with https://www.dcseu.com/ for rebates.

I have a feeling I'm about to get a lot of activity today

Love it when you make an appointment for an EV recall but you can't get it done because the dealership you booked service at isn't equipped for EVs.

Guess they're still pretty far from mainstream after all ...

In this extended lightning video, you can see positive electrical discharges rising from lightning rods to meet the huge, downward negative strikes.

@coreyspowell
now what should poor astronomers do:

~70% of the universe energy density is unknown

~25% is equally unknown dark matter

...if also 99% of the rest of 5% of ordinary matter gets spooky as well, we are so doomed!

When you step on a scale, here's where your weight comes from.
gluonic field energy: 37%
motion of quarks: 32%
anomalous gluonic contribution: 22%
virtual quark condensate: 9%
-- The particles themselves account for less than 1%, within the rounding error.

We held my wife's annual cherry blossom birthday picnic over the weekend. So glad the weather and cherry trees came through in the end, but they always do. So many good places to see flowering trees in the city without the crowds.
