Professor in #Astrophysics at the University of Bologna and former #ERC grantee.
I study the cosmic web, extragalactic magnetism and clusters of galaxies with colorful simulations.
Less #AI and more tiramisu in our lives!

#Youtube video in comic style in which I also appear with my work.

It partially (or entirely) is the usual AI slop, although until the middle of it is superficially correct.

I do however like the simplistic visuals of networks produced there, some I am going to just steal for talks!

What If Everything in the Universe Is Connected?

New nice rendering of the day, after some stress making #Julia correctly call python stuff.
(projected magnetic field vectors and magnetic field amplitude for the last simulated cluster of galaxies with ENZO)

the joy of receiving applications to my post-doc which are visibly and 100% generated using #AI (which btw takes 2 second to notice, if you are expert, as for example it generated references to unexisting works of mine ). seriously, junior people in #academia hear me out: do not underestimate how dramatically bad this looks like, and wipes out even the smallest chance of you being retained as a backup candidate (in case the first ones will decline).
😩

I can barely understand this if you need to apply to everywhere and everything because you need a job, and this is very human and understandable; however I cannot imagine this to work as in the classical "nigerian princess" scam: real experts are going to look into the application, and if something it's just entirely, or very largely, generated with AI it just shows up in a second. And not matter what is in the rest of the application, or maybe even how good you may be.
