40s. Wife. Mother. Medical Secretary. Bad at self description...
Oh, and #ADHD. That's new, and therefore still an afterthought.
#tea obsessed and #books obsessed. That's largely what will make up my content, I suspect. Other hobbies will come and go, but these two endure.

Second crop, this time over a honey soy stir fry. It makes it look so much more finished!

I can't take a lot of credit for the rest of the dish. Instant rice, packet sauce and frozen veg. But I have a seven year old and a partner going through a really rough time with #depression and #anxiety. At times like this if it's not a quick and easy meal it's just not happening. At least the greens add a touch of freshness.

@micaeladawn I know it's tough. But I'm so proud of you for doing it, and we'll get through.

Lynn Conway, electricial engineer and computer scientist, co-architect of the VLSI design revolution, and transgender activist, was born #OTD in 1938.

She invented Dynamic Instruction Scheduling at IBM, but IBM fired her when they learned she was transitioning.

@hogesonline the trays and seeds are from micropod.com.au - I use the continuous grow kit. The seed mats I use are their 'Wellness Blend' which has mizuna, broccoli and purple pak choi.

I let my microgreens die off towards the end of last year. With everything going on I was hardly cooking and keeping them going felt frivolous and a waste of energy.

I started them going again a little after Christmas. Even with Micaela going into hospital tomorrow, I still want to use this time away from work to try to get some better habits going, including cooking on the evenings I am home.

I also always love having growing things around me - despite my terrible lack of green thumb!

@micaeladawn On the plus side, once you managed to navigate your way into the dress, it looked lovely on you! ❤️

@ljmcla I ordered The Satsuma Complex from Waterstones in the UK because I wanted a signed copy. If you’re less of a wanker than me though, Book Depository is usually well stocked and has free shipping.

The Satsuma Complex only appears to be available for pre-order on Australian sites (I checked Dymocks and QBD) but looks like they have the biography.

#sheng #puer today, Honeybomb from #CrimsonLotusTea.

The #tbr pile behind has shrunk somewhat from yesterday. I finished book two in #gailcarriger's #SanAndreasShifters series around 2am (hello occasional insomnia) and now have begun book three, The Enforcer Enigma.

I rarely find werewolves interesting, presumably some Twilight related aversion, but I'll read anything Gail writes.

Today I read #TheSumageSolution by #gailcarriger.

A charming read as all her books are. But at first I was concerned that I was going to be a little disappointed. Not because of the quality of the writing, but without the quirky Victorian steampunk setting, I found myself wondering what the point of the story was. Not that any book needs a 'point', of course. So there's probably a better way to phrase what I was thinking, but I'm not sure what.

Then I hit page 273. And I didn't wonder any more.

Perhaps I was really questioning how this book was going to speak to me, personally. And I found it here. In the way he asks the question, in a completely natural manner. In the way she is happy to be a woman 'only with a cock'. It's not about how she is presenting, or what genitalia she was born with, but just what is.

I go forward now to the other books in the series with anticipation. I look forward to seeing how the societal upheaval she introduced into her Victorian past has grown into 'our' time.

(I was also amused by the fact the main character drinks #puer #tea and everyone else thinks it's awful.)
