When I was still active on Facebook, I got into a #healthcare argument with someone who used to be a friend. While they moved around a lot and changed the subject more times than I can remember, one point in particular stuck with me. They called out that if we moved to a #SinglePayer system that this would put all those people from #UHC and #Anthem and all the other #insurance providers out of work.

Unemployment as a result of systemic change is likely inevitable but it being permanent is optional. People seem to forget that this too is the role of government. Retraining, job placement, whatever is needed to cushion the blow is the job of the government to provide. It’s not their job to hold us hostage and keep us bound to a broken system. It has become their job though because this is what happens when those same institutions pay to keep supporters in power and exist as for-profit entities.

I used to be an agency driver in Britain, driving different trucks almost every week.

Most of them were dirty and full of rubbish.

I work in Finland now. Today, after more than 3 months of sharing a truck with randomly allocated drivers, I found, for the first time, a piece of rubbish - somebody forgot to throw away his takeaway coffee cup.

I miss a lot of things about Britain, but their terrible litter problem is not one of them.

@ItalianNews @whitehouse So #JoeBiden gets to go on yet another trip, but he STILL can’t answer the email that #WheelchairUser RICHARD W. WERT sent on 1-22-21???

#WhiteHouse confirms Biden's visit to Papua New Guinea

The US President will stop there at the end of May, between the G7 summit in Japan and the Quad Summit in Australia. Biden wants to strengthen relations between the US and the Pacific countries, in an anti-Chinese function

A quick history lesson. From 1940-1980:
•Wealthiest paid 70-94% marginal tax
•0 of them went broke from taxation
•0 of them left USA
•All remained exceedingly wealthy
•Manufacturing boomed
•The middle class was 62% of US economy (It's now 40% post 'trickle down scamenomics)
•We had the strongest middle class growth in US History

Let's do that again. Stop protecting billionaires. Start taxing them.
#TaxBillionaires

Bed Bath & Beyond has filed for bankruptcy shortly after spending $1B in stock buybacks & cash payments to shareholders. Employees of 20 years got 0 notice & $0 severance.

It wasn't inflation. It wasn't labor cost. It is 100% corporate greed.

Tax billionaires. Unionize workers. Protect our economy.

I don't usually go for conspiracy theories. But sometimes my mind drifts, especially when I think about who funded Musk's Twitter takeover.

I wonder: Would these people have paid billions for a third-tier social network? Or would they have paid billions to poison the watering hole where journalists and activists worldwide gather?

Here’s who helped Elon Musk buy Twitter

Elon Musk didn't buy Twitter on his own. From Qatar to Jack Dorsey and Binance, meet the people who helped fund the acquisition.

The Washington Post
@chadloder Exactly. While Twitter officially forbids bullying, #ElonMusk is Chief Bully. While my account has been restored, yesterday I was “Permanently Suspended” for several hours. I’m a QUADRIPLEGIC #WheelchairUser with #CerebralPalsy. I’ve NEVER threatened anyone or broken the law—my sin against #SaintElon was tweeting about him—that #Nevada just gave #Tesla & #ElonMusk $300M+ & other companies boatloads of $$$$$ while doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for me FOR 31 YEARS!!!!
I've been disgusted by the lack of professional solidarity among journalists ever since Musk bought Twitter. As Musk bans journalists one-by-one, their colleagues stay on Twitter, tweeting out their work, hoping that they'll survive the next round.
