Everything looks fine on the board until the pickup window shifts and the whole load starts falling apart in real time. That is not a driver problem. That is an ops problem wearing a driver's face. #Dispatch #Trucking

Truckies sick of driver behaviour. Yep, I get it. Many people are morons. But did the truckies submitting the video for that article really think car drivers were at fault in all instances? Not sure if it was Graeme Brass or Mark Townrow in the last clip, but that was easily avoidable if the truck driver just slowed down and kept a sufficient gap between them and the cars in front.

Watch the last 20 seconds of the video. The driver with the caravan was clearly indicating and slowing down to turn the corner, and yet the truck driver seems to make no effort to slow down at all (the speed wasn’t showing on that clip, but it seems to me they’re even speeding up!).

Field note from compliance: Teams call it paperwork until enforcement shows up. Then everybody acts surprised the sloppy habit was expensive. That is why the boring stuff gets expensive later. 🚨 FMCSA nuked 90K+ non-dom CDLs after audits. #FMCSA #Trucking

What gets fleets hurt more often: lazy habits, missing documents, or everybody assuming the audit is still far away? #FMCSA #Trucking
Most freight problems do not show up all at once. They stack quietly until one person in the chain finally wears all of it. That is the part most people notice too late. #Trucking #Logistics https://protrucklogistics.org

1982 found me in a time of life where a switch was desperately needed. I had walked into the PepsiCo warehouse holding a bottle of Coca-Cola, oops. The plant manager saw me and fired me on the spot. I knew better but being hung-over, I wasn’t thinking clearly.

A real good friend had been fired about two months earlier for insubordination and had went to work for his mom and dad in Missouri. He kept in contact with me and after hearing I had been fired he jokingly told he parents about it.

His dad, a total stranger offered me a job, teaching me how to drive semi which I was very grateful for. I discussed it with my [at the time] wife and we decided I should head down there from Indiana to take the job offer while she remained in Ft. Wayne.

We had been married under a year and I wish I would have gotten a divorce before I left as it would have saved me years of grief. A do over or mulligan could have made life so much different for me.

In those days we didn’t have cell phones so when I got lost going into Manhattan I had to pull over and read my Rand McNally road atlas to get directions that’s right, no GPS. In those days you made a call on pay phones as we didn’t have the luxury of mobile deceives or the headaches of living on a small screen.
