The Department of
#Transport has launched the new
#HGV Eco Driving Standard, aimed at promoting sustainable driving practices within the heavy goods vehicle (HGV) sector. The standard provides guidelines for eco-driving courses, focusing on fuel reduction, energy management, and maintenance efficiencies, reducing costs for the sector. Developed by the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT), the standard supports
#Ireland’s environmental goals and enhances HGV efficiency and safety. The standard is voluntary and free for training providers, with the
#Freight Transport Association Ireland (FTAI) approved as a training provider. This initiative complements the Road Haulage Strategy (2022-2031), which focuses on improving efficiency, standards, and the transition to a low-carbon future. The CILT offers further details on the application process.
