Is it me or does it feel like "the Internet" is a little doomed? +++ difficult to get reliable information, AI slop everywhere and so on. I'm finding myself more reluctant to go online each day. Time to go back to books?!

@ropatrick People from the from Solid community participate in the LWS WG but Solid isn't referenced in the spec.

For people that are into home automation with home assistant and only use zigbee.

I recently learned that the new Ikea Kajplats lightbulbs can be connected through zigbee. People have gotten it to work with both ZHA and zigbee2mqtt.

If you were like me wanting to buy cheaper Ikea bulbs but the Trådfri ones were out of stock? You can still try out the new Kajplats ones 🙂.

@ropatrick Actually the old setup was working stable, but I didn’t like the many moving parts.

I had a Zigbee2MQTT stand alone adapter, and all the aforementioned containers on my NAS. Just so many points that could fail.

Finally I bought a used Lenovo notebook as homelab. Using proxmox, a VM and USB pass through for a Zigbee-adapter.

Hope that setup is more robust.

@ropatrick I am generally annoyed at the world — have actually been for a while. I don’t think that’s something that is likely to change in the short term.

Defensive, maybe… But I have been called an enemy of Free Software many many years ago, and received death threats for removing a package from Gentoo… Given the current climate, particularly around Free Software, I can hardly talk with an open heart…
