Been learning Italian a little, just for fun (and hope for a nice holiday there sometime soon). Not the first person to point this out (pace Mark Twain), but, _santa mucca_ , Batman, grammatical gender is weird.
Today's example: “finger" is masculine, but "fingers" is feminine. Say what?

I’m lucky, as a mostly blind person, to still be working at a well-paid job. But my vision is getting worse, and I was hoping to retire a little early on SSDI in the next year or two. A year ago, post-Covid staff shortages in the SSA were would've meant waiting at least a year for benefits, then 2 years after that for Medicare, just a little early.
Now, I imagine the wait is worse, and my retirement savings is evaporating. Welcome to the #Kakistocracy.

But this year we have purchased an apple pie from our favorite local bakery for tonight's dessert. Still warm when we got it, and, oh, was it tempting us to EAT SOME NOW!

Shout out this year to a (new to me) hamantaschen recipe from Nosher. Filled ours with chunky date-pistachio paste and with peach jam. Absolutely amazing, and I'm going to use that dough recipe for butter cookies from now to eternity.
