Back in the day, toilet paper and eggs were so plentiful that you would throw them at the houses of your enemies.
If it behooves you, instead of thinking any more about Twitter—hit us with some PDFs, some incomprehensible sociology, a fact about your town, some poetry no one cares about, political theory that will never land, obscure social history, climate links, math things, some tech so obscure 20 people use it. We want your inner noise. Just push the gas on your own ephemeralism and launch us into the future.

Remember: Running a Mastodon server well isn't free or even cheap. If you have the means, consider financially supporting not just the Mastodon project generally, but also your local instance.

There's likely to be another stampede of new users here, and while more voices will make this system richer and more useful, it will inevitably also put a strain on existing resources.

Internet evolution:
Usenet: find your people! there are a few dozen of them on rec.arts.funny!
Listservs: find your people! there are 100 of them on this obscure list devoted to Marxist cultural criticism!
Blogs: find your people! each time one of them visits your site, your counter will increment! look! it has reached four digits!
Social media: find your people! there are several million strangers who are calling you names!
Post-social media: find your people! there are several dozen of them!

Big rumblings in the expansion of the #Fediverse have been happening recently.

#Tumblr has already promised to implement #ActivityPub (the protocol Mastodon uses), which will mean you can follow Tumblr accounts from here and vice versa. And today we a learning that #Flickr is also considering it!

This will be a massive expansion, which obviously carries some uncertainties, but I, for one, welcome our new federation partners.

This is the way the internet is supposed to work.

I don't know what the actual to say about this. Is it possible for Manischewitz to make an anti-semitic product? After the FTX meltdown, I think so. https://www.amazon.com/Hanukkah-Manischewitz-Chocolate-Individually-Wrapped/dp/B0BLT4DWCN
This seems like an appropriate first comic for mastodon.

Paprika App is currently having their annual Black Friday sale - their apps are 40-50% off. I can't recommend this app enough, I use it for all of my recipe organization, meal planning, and grocery shopping, it's phenomenal! It has built-in syncing so I can keep it up-to-date on all my devices, and even while shopping. If you cook/grocery shop a lot this really is a must-have.
