While individuals made huge sacrifices, the system remained. This shows that individual action will not solve climate change. We need the system to change.

Having implicit power structures form without any formal method of recall is precisely what allows unjust hierarchies to come into being.

When there are no explicit hierarchies then implicit ones necessarily arise because some individuals are more charismatic and extroverted than others, and people tend to rally around them.

This is a fascinating interview on #China, it's economy, its democracy, and China/US relations. Radhika Desai is an articulate and persuasive speaker. A lot of what she says resonates with me. Although I know this could be viewed as propaganda by some, since the channel its on (CGTN) is supported directly by the Chinese government, it still rings rather true to me.

It has always struck me as odd that Stallman, and the #FreeSoftware movement broadly, have this radical thought that all software should be _Free_ for the benefit of all humanity, but never extend this line of thought to, well, anything other than software.

If we should share and render common our computer programs for its myriad of advantages and enjoyable freedoms, then maybe there are more fields where abolishing private ownership yields positive results.
