Fritz Lang's science fiction masterpiece, METROPOLIS (1927) is set in the year 2026. It depicts the disparity between the super rich elite and the burdened working class and the ways the rich will do just about anything to keep the poor poor and enslaved.

It's 2026 and there are still people making online videos where the image is basically looking up their nose as their face takes up the whole screen. Most of these people also seem to be older. Maybe it's a generational thing, idk. I'm not that young either but I would never want to subject any viewer to that kind of image of me. 😂
I just learned that #author Dan Simmons recently died. May he rest in peace.
He wrote, among other books, the #scifi masterpiece, #Hyperion.
The next 3 – 10 US presidents are going to have an enormous mess to clean up (if that’s even possible, and it’s probably not) after this presidency is done.
I find myself these days, 35+ years after college, rereading books I read back then (e.g. For Whom the Bell Tolls, On the Road, The Sheltering Sky, Tropic of Cancer, etc.), and finding that I not only still enjoy them, I’m finding them even better more interesting and deeper than I was probably capable of realizing as a young college student. #literature #books #reading
