This is the account for the #NRAO Exploring the Electromagnetic Spectrum (#EMS) with #HamRadio project. This innovative project will educate learners about the electromagnetic spectrum while sharing the excitement of amateur (ham) radio among #BIPOC and/or #LGBTQIA+ students. I just wanted to let you all know that 30 May is my last day on the current @ARDC grant and that you can reach me at @wb2ifs and linkedin.com after that date. I'm going to decommission this profile.

It has been fun and a pleasure to collaborate with you all, and I look forward to continuing collaborations #Hamradio. #amateurradio #STEMeducation #STEAM #STEMM #scienceeduction #electromagnetic #spectrum.

Listen, I just want to take a moment and acknowledge the leaders of @thenrao who ran interference and made space for the #hamradio project to take off. TNX OF ES 73

😂the answer to every question is "it depends". In this case, you don't have to be a #US #citizen to get a US #amateurradio license, but depending on where you're from, your #US license may not be accepted for credit toward a license in your home country. For example, #Aotearoa only has one license grade and it is equivalent to #US #extraclass. You'll have to sit for an exam in #newzealand if you have #General or #technician class licenses. NZART-Home

NZART is the home of Amateur radio in New Zealand. Dedicated to Amateur radio since 1928, NZART is the a non-profit association of amateur radio operators in New Zealand and founding member of Region 3 of the IARU.

I know that this can be done because I used to work with someone from #Ireland who got licensed in the US first and then used the US license to apply for a license back home. He told me that doing it this way was easier administratively than applying directly in Ireland.
Hey folks. I have questions about non-US citizens getting #fcc #amateurradio licenses in the US and then converting that license into one they can use in their home country. Where can I find a concise description of the rules that would enable this practice? I've searched the fcc.gov site. I'm particularly interested in #Aotearoa (#NewZealand).
@thenrao The meetings will be monthly...time will be announced shortly.
OK We're kicking off a virtual club for our learners and alumni in the @thenrao #HamRadio project. And I'm looking for speakers on the following subjects:
+ #Amateurradio over the Internet (ARoIP)
+ #MorseCode #CW for fun
+ #Echolink.org deep dive: review of all the features
+ What is #meshtastic and how do I get started?
+ #WebSDR treasure/egg hunt
+ Build #crystalradios from junk
Interested? DM me.

I was checking out the video of the #ARISS contact at @astronomy2024 and stuck around for a very inspiring talk by Dr. #maejemison about the #100YSS project. I love that the project puts #Diversity out front. https://www.youtube.com/live/7VsshsjvnTM?feature=shared the #ARISS contact starts around 1:45 and Dr. Jemison's remarks at 2:26 #BlacksInScience #BlackInTech #afrofuturism #starship #AmateurRadio #startrek #iau #WomensDay
