Hello, my name is [REDACTED] but you may call me neutronstar, no caps.
I don’t really know what I’m doing but I try to be good, and maybe that’s enough?
I like an assortment of things and I gain interest in new things constantly, which is fun until I’m deep into the next rabbit hole in my yard.
I’m not used to social media but it seems very social doesn’t it? Why’d I write that, that was so weird.
That’s it, I’m done.
Why are you still reading?
Seriously, stop.
Okay, fine:

Happy now?

Yeah, it’s fair if people pay for the services they use, especially since it incentivises not selling people’s data or metadata. But I must add to this by saying that I think people should have the right to privacy, even if they’re financially constrained.

And agreed, there is no project to date that’s more effective at providing a higher level of privacy than the tor network.

There are also options like Meshtastic that might prove itself to be a valuable tool in due time. Especially for close quarter communication and those edge case scenarios. Best let these projects be separate however, I think so at least.

If you’ve ever interacted with Tuta you’ll know my preference. They’re concise, unintrusive and informative. They also answer comments in their comment section and I’ve even seen them recommend their direct competitors as replacements to Google services.

It’s just nice to see them pop up in my feed.

What do you like to see in organizations on Mastodon?

What kind of posts and interactions do you prefer from them?

Yeah, can’t really argue against using what is tried and true

Okay… that is one impressive photograph!
We can’t rely on tech oligarchs, especially when these same companies and governments are the ones to sever our access to the internet and telecommunications. Here’s a guide for preparing to stay connected to the services you need and people you love during a shutdown. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/05/hackers-guide-circumventing-internet-shutdowns
A Hackers Guide to Circumventing Internet Shutdowns

Internet shutdowns are devastating for human rights. We can’t rely on tech oligarchs to save us, especially when these same companies and governments are the ones to sever our access to the internet and telecommunications. This is why it's important to set up communication mechanisms before a disaster happens.

Gone are fossil fuels and meat ads. Ad boards in the Dutch capital now promote the Art, The Rijksmuseum, the national museum of the Netherlands, and a piano concert. Until last week it was chicken nuggets, SUVs and low-budget holidays.

Amsterdam bans public adverts for meat and fossil fuels

Local politicians say the move is in line with the Dutch capital's environmental targets.

Not to be outdone by Ireland, The Netherlands has just picked TikTok, Meta and Uber's lawyer as the new head of the Dutch Privacy Authority. Well done everyone. For shame. https://nos.nl/artikel/2614241-advocaat-van-tiktok-en-meta-wordt-voorzitter-privacywaakhond-ap
Advocaat van TikTok en Meta wordt voorzitter privacywaakhond AP

Geert Potjewijd verdedigde jarenlang grote techbedrijven als TikTok, Uber en Meta tegen claims van toezichthouders en actiegroepen.

@EUCommission

Except that isn’t! You are actively assisting big tech with this move.

Asking children and adults to identify themselves online isn't holding big tech companies responsible!

Verifying who everyone is with government ids is not a solution. It’s a massive data breach waiting to happen.

You are enabling much much more harm to children and everyone using the internet by pushing this narrative of verification.
