@simon Yeah, I think having algorithmic bots which try to find trending posts and boosts those posts would be great to have.

People can then choose bots to follow, and bots to ignore.

@BrentToderian Unfortunately, people are showing up in this server instance faster than the hardware can keep up with, and it's slowing everything down really badly. I think this amplifies a lot of frustrations.

I'm hoping the somewhat commensurate influx of donations means @Gargron can build out more hardware soon to relieve the pressure.

@ericsfraga Yeah, the last 5 years I’ve lived here they’ve built out a ton of new, high quality protected bike lanes. It’s actually a really great place for cycling now if you don’t live too far away from the centre.
How often do you hear “speed was not a factor” in a crash? They mean the driver wasn’t exceeding the (probably too high) speed limit. Remember, when it comes to the likelihood that vehicle crashes will occur, & whether the consequences are deadly or not, SPEED IS ALWAYS A FACTOR. #visionZero #speeding #streetdesign #cityplanning #cities
Every Mastodon explanation is like "It's very simple, your account is part of a kerflunk, and each kerflunk can talk to each other as part of a bumblurt. At the moment everyone you flurgle can see your bloops but only people IN your kerflunk can quark your nerps. Kinda like email."

First winter ride of the season in Edmonton, the bike trails are actually in better shape than I thought they’d be!

Here are some questions to ask about your Mastodon instance that I am wondering about.

Who runs your mastodon instance? Is it more than one person? Do they have a sustainability plan? How are they funded? Can I sponsor this instance?
