#Copyright system gives software program "Owners", mostly they would like to be the only ones who can copy and modify the software that we use.

Society needs programs that people can read, fix, adapt, and improve, not just operate.

"When we started, the search revenue was just about perfect," Baker said. Google was, in the early 21st century, about the only thing growing faster than Firefox. It was the best search engine, and its vision for openness and access fit Mozilla's goals for the internet. Now, Baker said, "It doesn't feel 100% aligned"

Mozilla is in a strong financial position but no longer feels comfortable with its partners' policies on data collection, misinformation and more.

Mozilla lost the browser wars. It still thinks it can save the internet.

The inside story of a very long, sometimes lonely and totally quixotic quest.

#InternetFreedom The Free Software Movement of India condemns the atrocious internet shutdowns across the country to stop democratic protests. In this year alone there have been 93 instances where the government shut down the internet in various places and more recently in Assam and Meghalaya. Shutting down the internet achieves no purpose and in fact, increases harm to people in the country. We demand communications to be restored across the country within 24 hours. We further demand the telecom suspension rules be revised to not continue these illegal shutdowns of internet with no public emergency on the ground. https://fsmi.in/#/press/FSMI%20strongly%20condemns%20Internet%20Shutdowns%20across%20the%20country.$79 #InternetShutdowns #KeepTheNetOn
