Dad, DevOps Engineer turned DevOps Manager, GenX geek, maybe #AudHD (I'm still figuring this one out), definitely #neurodivergent, #jewish (and deeply supportive of Palestine and an end to the war), navigating life in #chronicpain. Writing about #technology, #bigotry, #ttrpg, I'm all over the map. My kiddo is always identified as "The Zergling"

Profile photo is me, middle-aged, cisgender, white, male, sipping tea from a white teacup while wearing sunglasses and a black t-shirt.

Well all, it's time for me to make the move. After @krusynth helped me find the last bit of code I wanted to change, I'm going to be using my own Mastodon instance. So you'll see me at @monkeyninja in a little bit. I should have the move all done within the hour.
@krusynth You are the BEST! I was banging my head against that for days and could not for the life of me find where that was being set. That was the last blocker to going live with my own instance, now it's all ready to rock. N even setup an account over there if you want to follow her, she's @oceanic
@krusynth IT IS!!! HOLY CRAP, THANK YOU!
@krusynth Hrmm...maybe! One sec, let me check, and thank you!
@KitMuse Who can forget that classic action-packed violence-fest "Jane Eyre, Bodyguard" by Charlotte Brontë. Jane refused to take any crap from her abusive aunt and cousins and after defenestrating the lot in a fit of martial brilliance, she converts Gateshead Hall into a sanctuary and trains herself to be the world's greatest bodyguard.

Game of Porcelain Thrones

@Ponygirl @RickiTarr I only ran into "Yinz" when I was hanging out in PA. I found "Yous" used by some of my NY and NJ relatives though, but that was hit or miss.
For folks running their own #mastodon instance in this grand #fediverse, have you found where in the code you would adjust the string length for the biography field? It doesn't seem to use the MAX_CHARS variable set in status_length_validator.rb so just curious if folks had found a way to adjust that.
@RickiTarr I was born in NY and raised in VA. At some point I went native and started using "y'all" and didn't realize its full utility until I moved to Boston and found people looked at me as strange when I used it. "Y'all" is the best. Unless I'm having a particularly introverted day in which case a group of people is referred to as a "nope" and they can stay the hell away from me.
A reminder for all you #ttrpg fans out there to buy my hot new #christmas #toy! You've heard of "Elf on the Shelf" but are your kids prepared for "Melf in the Elf?" Why settle for a boring toy you have to move around? If your kids don't behave then the elf quietly suffers 2d4 acid damage plus an additional 2d4 acid damage per round for every 3 levels of the parent. Your kids will chortle with laughter as their sins melt the flesh from this poor creature's elfin frame. Fun for the whole family!
