On Dec 16, Twitter suspended our @joinmastodon account after we shared a link to the newly registered Mastodon account of @ElonJet, an account that broadcasts public flight path data of Elon Musk’s private jet, which was previously suspended from Twitter itself. At the same time, accounts of multiple journalists from major publications such as CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, as well as various independent journalists, were likewise suspended for either linking to the account itself or talking about the event.

Unos lo tenemos en gmail, otros en Yahoo y otros en Hotmail... incluso podemos tener nuestro propio dominio @minombre.com o @miempresa.com Pues bien, el correo electrónico (Email) es la tecnología que hay detrás de un servidor que ofrece el servicio. :anime_fairy8: Esto permite que el "Correo electrónico" no sea de nadie y que cada servidor de correo tenga sus propios usuarios, normas y política de SPAM. :comics_marvel_min1: ¡Pues con Mastodon pasa lo mismo! No hay un servidor de Mastodon como tal, sino que hay "instancias" (que es la forma de llamar a los servidores de Mastodon!). :comics_dc_green: Cada usuario se identifica por su nombre@instancia ¡como en el correo electrónico! Igual que tu email puede ser [email protected] o [email protected], pues en Mastodon puedes ser [email protected] o [email protected] dependiendo de la instancia a la que pertenezcas. ¡Y al igual que puedes enviar correo a cualquier dirección aunque no pertenezca a tu servidor en Mastodon pasa lo mismo, puedes seguir a gente de otras instancias de Mastodon sin importar en que instancia estén porque Mastodon no pertenece a nadie y todo está conectado! Y esa es la magia de Mastodon y el Fediverso... y es que, hay tantas instancias conectadas entre sí, que nadie puede ser dueño de algo tan grande como ha pasado con Twitter, pues aquí, siempre hay una instancia acorde a cada tipo de persona, y si una desaparece siempre habrá otra por la que acceder.
