Because of my stepdaughter's love for Tyler the Creator, I watched his show in Lollapalooza Chile last night and I can tell you, I am shocked: this guy, totally alone on an empty (and huge) stage, rapping, singing and dancing -again, alone- in front of a sea of thousands of people during almost 1 and a half hours... What a personality! Charming, sympathetic, and talented, he was in absolute control of the show, and capable of maintaining a performance on its own: no dancers, no band, no overloaded visuals.. just a tight and simple light show (very good btw) and basic and minimalist visuals; most of all, screens showing him.

Maybe I'm not a fan of his music (this is the first time I hear it), but I can say that -for a more traditional born in the 80s like me- it's really something: an alternative sound, contemporary, with rythm and ambient violent changes, unexpected transitions, and a strange unique mixing of genres like hip hop, r&b, and even heavier and more distorted ones, I don't know if it reminds me of a lot of different music or of nothing I've ever heard before. I definitely will check out his discography.

This guy could be confident, but he felt the latinamerican warm... he barely could speak through a wild screaming crowd the whole concert. He showed moved and thankful. People was euphoric. Today begins Lollapalooza in Santiago. One of the most hated AND beloved festivals here in Chile. It is expected that more than 80,000 people will attend daily.

For me, Lolla is the biggest shopping-mall Festival (something like Coachella but here in Chile). The experience inside is unethically full of advertising: every corner, every stage, every tent and every activity. But still..

Last year TOOL came to Southamerica for the first time thanks to Lolla. Otherwise, they would hardly have come. Historical. PLUS: Lollapalooza always offer on their lineup a considerable percentage of local bands. That's great. There are other massive Festivals here but chilean bands aren't always welcome and if it is so, very few end participating.

I miss a lot of concerts lately because of money issues: live music is too expensive and it's getting worse every day. So: I appreciate very much when people record the whole show and post it on their Youtube channel. What a bless! Many of them are getting pro, with very cool audio and they make sure that the show looks good on video. Totally a win-win thing. I can enjoy the show in my place with good sound and quality, and they earn some money with their Youtube views. BUT:

COME ON... what do you earn recording a song (or half of it), while dancing, with your shitty phone? Shitty audio, shitty photographic framing, not a bit of corcern to make a nice video... Besides, that video will remain in their hard drives like a speck of dust in an abandoned house. They'll never watch it again. NEVER.

Concerts should have some kind of strong restriction with phones/cameras; they are annoying, they bother the people behind you, and sometimes a few "geniuses" record with the flash ON. COME ON!!

What should be done? What do you think, people?

I'm not a political activist; however, first of all, I declare myself as antifascist.

Today a left-wing activist was found badly hurt and tied by the side of a highway in Santiago, with written messages in his arms saying "VIVA KAST" ("Long live Kast", the new far-right president of Chile, who assumed the precidency yesterday) and "NO+ZURDOS" ("no more leftists", an offensive way of referring to people on the political left.). He is in an induced coma and in critical condition.

This situation isn't common in Chile, at least since the return of democracy after Pinochet's dictatorship in 1990. This is the first time a far-right person becomes president in 36 years.

The day after, we wake up with this news. I see this as a precedent for what's coming for us as a society over the next 4 years.

The far right is regression, it is violence and above all it is fascism. Wish us luck and peace; the whole western world is suffering the same desease and we can't be quiet nor silenced.

I met Mastodon in 2022 and registered in metalhead.club, but as the most servers out there, it didn't let me write more than 666 characters (xD funny, isn't it? 😈 ). So I started looking for an instance that would allow me to write longer and that was aligned with my interests. I found one and migrate: a server specialized in music. But... sadly, my "political" opinions were not welcome due to its content restrictions... That was disappointing. Tomorrow J.A. Kast will receive the power here in Chile; a right-wing extremist who won the last presidential election. Many people in Chile are afraid of the new government because of the declared racism, trans/homophobia and systematic misogyny of the president Kast, his party and all his allies for many years.

This is a world trend, and I hope we keep together fighting fascism as always: today more than ever.
