Chinese #electricvehicles auto maker and battery manufacturer #BYD reveals 1 MW charger!
“In order to completely solve our users’ charging anxiety, we have been pursuing a goal to make the charging time of electric vehicles as short as the refuelling time of petrol vehicles”
An impressive technical feat for electro-chemistry, another step towards full road transport #decarbonization .

"Drill, baby, drill"? What for? Looks like the #oilmarket is saturated and demand will be decreasing. Yes, it's #PeakOil demand, thanks to #electrification and #ClimateChange policies. According to @Grist: "The Gulf [of Mexico] accounts for 97 percent of all offshore oil and gas production in the U.S. Nearly 12 million acres are under active leases in the Gulf, but only about 2.4 million acres are being used to produce oil and gas"

Trump wants more drilling, but the oil market is already saturated

Despite President's Trump directives, oil companies can't drill if there is little market for their product.

"Hydrogen production investment costs are currently 3-4 times higher than what some established studies estimated in the early 2020s. The cost differential is slowing down the clean hydrogen industry progress."
Study by University of #Vaasa : reality check for #hydrogen and its role for low-carbon #Energy provision for #ClimateChange mitigation. OK, but what happens with hard-to-abate sectors after we adjust to this bubble? Even *more* #CCS ?

Chinese developer switches on world’s largest perovskite-based PV plant

MicroQuanta, a Chinese perovskite solar specialist, has commissioned a 8.2 MW PV facility based on its 90 W perovskite panels in eastern China.

Just presented at this year's meeting of the #IntegratedAssessment Modelling Consortium #IAMC, on possible production pathways for #hydrogen and associated emissions: there's low-carbon and then there's *low*-carbon, and we should be mindful about carbon infrastructure lock-in and technology learning.

Blue and turquoise hydrogen: bridge options or mirage?

MOTIVATION-OBJECTIVE - Hydrogen (H2): promising vector in the race to reach to net-zero - Many announced national strategies & investments: RePowerEU, Japanese H2 Strategy… - Current production based on gas and coal (70 MtH2, 750 MtCO2) - How to supply large enough quantities of H2 while making it a lower-GHG vector than the fuels it replaces?
