Had a great day with my family at the Ohio Viking Festival. Picked up some goat milk fudge and a wooden hnefatafl set! If you're in or near the area east of Cleveland, there's one more day left.
As a small, fun sort of project, I made a dice-rolling app with Godot for solo TTRPG use. I opted to use the 3.x branch for better support on older hardware in case people are using a repurposed laptop for play (like me).
Here's a sample of a piano piece generated algorithmically using the color data in an image alongside a user-defined song structure. No AI is involved here. It's all being done with code.
Well, here it is: the initial release of Wightwatch Keep! It's a 2D platformer with a few puzzles and a 1-bit pixel art style, and it's the first game I made on my own with #Godot. This release is limited to #Linux. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

To amuse myself, I wrote a utility that hashes a string, converts it to a list of decimals, then uses that data to generate color values to build an abstract looking image. I fed the result to my image2sound utility to create a new piece of music. No AI involved, just creative algorithms.

From 1993 to 2009, I drank the EA Kool-Aid, buying their hockey games yearly. I've seen people online talking about how good the NHL 2K series for the PS2 was. Curious about what I may have missed, I checked out a few of them using an emulator. (They were right!) 2K8 resonated with me the most, and I picked up this still shrinkwrapped (!) copy on eBay for $12 so I could play it on actual hardware.
I made two of these tasty #keto pumpkin spice lattes this evening - one for my wife and one for myself. 10/10 Would definitely make them again!
