Bowie, "Cactus"

Dry for the moment. Think I might smuggle a beer into the gym and drink it in the shower after work in an effort to optimize efficiency...

DHS Tells Police That Common Protest Activities Are ‘Violent Tactics’

DHS is urging law enforcement to treat even skateboarding and livestreaming as signs of violent intent during a protest, turning everyday behavior into a pretext for police action.

... Can't tell if this is an ingredient breakdown or some elaborate call and response used to vet an intelligence operative from the North Korean underground...

This was a hard one to write. It’s disconcerting to report on inhumane conditions at a U.S. concentration camp from the comfort of my home office, but not enough people are speaking out. And I don’t want history to repeat. Please help let others know. My write-up in the replies.

In a country characterized by the rule of law, some regulation of immigration is a legitimate function of government. In a lawless, expressly bigoted, and expressly corrupt regime, it is not. Download IceBlock and defy this administration.
/2 To show my work: by lawless I mean the administration routinely deliberately violates the law, defies courts, and obstructs the rule of law, and respects no substantive or procedural rights.
/3 By expressly bigoted I mean since he came down the escalator Trump has deliberately and successfully used hatred based on ethnicity and national origin, and his most recent administration is openly premised on it.
/4 And by expressly corrupt, I mean the administration has openly declared it will use immigration to suppress speech it doesn’t like, harm political enemies, and benefit friends.
/5 Any such administration does not merely lose the right to the legal presumption of regularity. It, and its agents, lose any reasonable expectation to the protection and benefit of the rule of law that it flouts.

@kenwhite.bsky.social

How long until Apple blocks that app in the US?

@kenwhite.bsky.social @GhostOnTheHalfShell This app not being available in my country is one more thing to be proud of.
@kenwhite.bsky.social Give one good reason borders shouldnt be open "bc we want to keep out criminals?" this is just nimbyism crimes are already illegal it shouldnt matter where someone is born they should have the freedom to participate in any country they want otherwise its not a consensual social contract its a prison country #noborders #openborders #anarchism #anarchocommunism #nooneisillegal

@ambiguous_yelp Your remarks surely have some merit worth consideration, but would probably be more persuasive if they were written the way a grown-up would.

You seem to have trouble with basic prose composition, but not with hashtags. It's pretty clear you're willing to make the effort when you have to. That makes the rest of your comment seem insultingly lazy.

@wesdym whats wrong with the prose? this is a microblogging platform if u can shorten by removing fluff the msg gets across faster

@ambiguous_yelp You're free to express yourself any way you choose.

And everyone else is free to judge you for the choices you make.

Based on your expression, I find you childish, and I find childish people tiresome and not worth my while.

Bye.

@kenwhite.bsky.social

Not available for android phones. ☹️

F.I.R.E. Initiative

@slowenough @thezenlady @rdfrkian @kenwhite.bsky.social That looks great but I bet in my area its full of people regarding a neighbors kids walking down the street as a potential danger.

@InkySchwartz

That sounds like my town as well, but then I doubt they even know about these apps.

@slowenough @rdfrkian @kenwhite.bsky.social

@thezenlady @InkySchwartz @rdfrkian @kenwhite.bsky.social Waze (which this was modeled after) had to figure out how to stop accepting submissions from spammers as well. It's doable.

After yesterday's meltdown from MAGA about these apps, lots of people have now heard of them. But if there are people in your area who don't know about them then lucky you! You get to be the person who shows them one thing they can do to fight the new police state.

@slowenough @thezenlady @rdfrkian @kenwhite.bsky.social The problem is, those people and reports are not spam but their sincerely help beliefs due to decades of "programming".

Also what meltdown over these apps?

@InkySchwartz @thezenlady @rdfrkian @kenwhite.bsky.social The developer is now being targeted publicly by people like Bondi and Homan, it's been in the news.

@slowenough

Not surprising that the developer is being targeted by DOJ & Homeland since they have gone full nazi

@InkySchwartz @rdfrkian @kenwhite.bsky.social

@thezenlady @slowenough @rdfrkian @kenwhite.bsky.social

Maybe, maybe not. All I will say is nextdoor and Fbook are really popular and one of the main uses is public service stuff. Which sounds great right until we realize it mostly those sorts of complaints.

@InkySchwartz @thezenlady @rdfrkian @kenwhite.bsky.social The app is only useful in areas where there are a lot of people using it as intended. Fortunately, there are a *lot* of people in many if not most areas who are willing to do so!

Spam is a problem, but can be at least brought to a reasonable level by the programmers.

I realize what I should have been doing every time I mention it is to *also* encourage people to find their local defense networks. Worth more than any app.

@kenwhite.bsky.social The app requires your location. It would be better to manually enter a location to avoid tracking. I want to use it but that’s a nonstarter for an app like this, at this stage of the regime.
@kenwhite.bsky.social I’m especially concerned that it “strongly recommends” the “Always”-on location option. That’s a tracker.
