@thezenlady @InkySchwartz @rdfrkian @kenwhite.bsky.social Waze (which this was modeled after) had to figure out how to stop accepting submissions from spammers as well. It's doable.

After yesterday's meltdown from MAGA about these apps, lots of people have now heard of them. But if there are people in your area who don't know about them then lucky you! You get to be the person who shows them one thing they can do to fight the new police state.

Maybe, maybe not. All I will say is nextdoor and Fbook are really popular and one of the main uses is public service stuff. Which sounds great right until we realize it mostly those sorts of complaints.

@InkySchwartz @thezenlady @rdfrkian @kenwhite.bsky.social The app is only useful in areas where there are a lot of people using it as intended. Fortunately, there are a *lot* of people in many if not most areas who are willing to do so!

Spam is a problem, but can be at least brought to a reasonable level by the programmers.

I realize what I should have been doing every time I mention it is to *also* encourage people to find their local defense networks. Worth more than any app.
