Where could I find a general-purpose .xinit to use?

::: Ubuntu Studio - FOR ARTISTS & CREATORS - funding help requested ๐Ÿ‘›

Although the project serves admirably - the donations have dropped considerably!

Rough times - understandable, but any amount helps ๐Ÿ™

Examples, why?

* MIDI inputs setup is simple in Ubuntu Studio. Not much so in stock Ubuntu.

-- Even if one successfully sets these up, the generic kernel in regular Ubuntu results as input lag. Unecceptable for pro's.

* Ubuntu Studio uses a low-latency kernel, and the MIDI input delay is imperceptible.

* Ubuntu Studio is configured in a way that a recording artist can get started with minimal setup hassle!

-- Sure, one can tweak 'n fight to achieve same on any distro - but a typical recording artist or a studio engineer won't do that.

So please, if you're able => https://ubuntustudio.org/2023/05/we-need-your-help

Why is it that so many disatros make it so that XFCE-Panel is a dependency of Thunar?

#Google will start purging old accounts in December 2023. And worse, many #YouTube channels tied to inactive accounts will also be deleted too. Better start logging into your old accounts if you haven't already (and you'll get tracked too).

https://blog.google/technology/safety-security/updating-our-inactive-account-policies/

This could mean channels like #NCIX Tech Tips may be gone for good soon, so grab those videos (with yt-dlp, a fork of youtube-dl) while you still can:

There may be other channels that haven't been active in at least two years. If you know of any, please reply with some below.

Updating our inactive account policies

Starting later this year, we are updating our inactivity policy for Google Accounts to 2 years across our products.

Woo! Immich just released a new version that adds a map where you can browse all your photos by location, one of the features I was most hoping for!

Even better, the single other feature I remember hoping for is supposed to come out soon: facial recognition! :D

@michal

ProtonMail is also good, can confirm that and recommend it. I'm using it for my domains and never had any issues. Again, there is no IMAP access, but I solved it by by running hydroxide โ€” an open source IMAP bridge next to fetchmail on a machine I can always ssh to and use mutt on. Recently they have gotten rid of out of source binaries in their own proton-bridge so maybe it'll be possible to build it for architectures not officially supported by Proton.
Official Bridge requires paid account though, hydroxide doesn't, but to use custom domains you've got to have one anyway. Oh, and hydroxide sometimes breaks as it uses same API web client does, but it does not happen often and usually gets fixed fast.

BTW both ProtonMail and Tutanota are present here on Fedi.
