Beautiful Tuesday | A Double Feature in Flowers and Verse

My poems were featured on Maggie Devers’ One Poem Only podcast two+ months ago. World Poetry Day (February 21) would have been the perfect time to share that news, but…I forgot.

Yes, I’m hanging my head in shame.

Thankfully, podcasts don’t disappear (unless deleted), so you can still access the poems (yay!). Maggie’s double feature involves her reading one poem on her podcast and the another one on Instagram. I was honored to be selected for a double feature.

Please take a moment or two to listen to Maggie’s beautiful reading of both poems.

You’ll Hear Music by Chandra! [“You’ll Hear Music” was first published in the Stafford 2024-25 Anthology].

You can access the second poem on Instagram.

Abandoned by Chandra! [“Abandoned” was recently published in the debut revival issue of Athena’s Web, the literary arts journal of Athens State University].

Let me know what you think in the comments!

About the Images: Anne Lene, my Wildflowers friend from Norway, sent the two postcards featured in this post–one for International Women’s Day 2025, the other for International Women’s Day 2026. Aren’t they lovely?

Discovering Ageless Linux

https://agelesslinux.org/

We are not against child safety. We are against building surveillance infrastructure and calling it child safety.

A law that required applications with genuine risk profiles — social media, messaging, dating apps — to display honest, human-readable safety information at the point of use would be a child safety law. A law that funded digital literacy education in schools would be a child safety law. A law that held platforms accountable for algorithmic amplification of harmful content to minors would be a child safety law.

A law that requires every operating system to collect every user's age and transmit it to every application on demand is not a child safety law. It is an identity infrastructure mandate. The children are the justification. The infrastructure is the product.

Ageless Linux — Software for Humans of Indeterminate Age

KDE Plasma 6.6 introduces the ability to extract text from screenshots taken using Spectacle, KDE's default screenshot tool, similar to Snipping Tool in Windows.

In some Linux distributions with KDE as the desktop, Spectacle doesn't show the "Extract text" button that enables this. Descriptions on how to fix the issue in OpenSUSE, NixOS and Arch are easily discoverable on the Web, but for Devuan (and presumably Debian) fixes are much harder to find.

I'm running Devuan "freia" (based on Debian testing). In a terminal, run:

sudo apt install tesseract-ocr tesseract-libs

Type y when prompted to install all dependencies and restart Spectacle if it's already running. Voilà. For me this worked; your mileage may vary.

Hashtag list incoming:

@CleefHanger If I'm reading it right, its dependent on relays, and is supposed to respect a #nobots , #nobot or #notagpub flag

Hier wird was ganz gewaltig verdreht!

Introducing tags.pub

tags.pub is a new service under development by the Social Web Foundation. It is a global hashtag server — it lets you follow a hashtag across the Fediverse. There’s lots of information …

Social Web Foundation

@anders_von_hadern @moellus Natürlich, auf deren Startseite stehen gleich mehrere opt-out-Methoden:

"If your server is providing data to tags.pub, and you don't want your content to be boosted by tags.pub accounts, you can add the #NoTagsPub hashtag to your account bio. (If you've already got a #NoBots or #NoBot hashtag in your account bio, we'll also skip any boosts.)

At the extreme end, you can also block the tags.pub domain, which should prevent tags.pub from seeing your content at all."
