@JoolsB Yes. A vanilla description only conveys so much. It does not convey what is automatically conveyed to the person who sees that image. You, as the person who chose the image, know the intended effect of that image. You sensed its emotional appeal. You knew this was the right image.
That's the sort of information that I am looking for in an image description, in addition to the basics of what the image contains. Not every image’s worth the 1500 characters available for it, but some will demand more explanation then others.
This is true even with a simple picture. Today I heard the description of a picture of a cat, who is seated on a toilet seat like a lifeguard in a bathroom, making sure his human did not fall in. My iPhone is set to also tell me the results of an automated Apple image recognition scan of that image. For this image, it simply said: "a cat seated in front of a white door”. That is a bare bones “just the facts” description of the picture, but it missed the most important part of the image, after the cat: the toilet, which is also what makes the joke work.

What my female partner saw - Blind corners. No lighting. No escape routes. Too few users. Wouldn’t use this route.

Councils often use barriers like these on traffic-free walking & cycling routes.
They say that they're to stop illegitimate users, like off-road motorcyclists, but in reality they fail to stop these.
But they do stop disabled people like me who use adapted cycles & other types of mobility aids. And we'd really like to access these safe and quiet routes too.
