Mayor of the West of #England Helen Godwin has marked her first year in office, highlighting devolution progress plans to accelerate delivery. She said the Devolution Act will shift more powers across #transport, #planning, #economic development and health. £1bn funding has been secured, including £45m for brownfield #housing and £25m for creative industries. Transport progress includes approval of the Portishead Line and a £200m deal to reconnect Portishead and Pill to Bristol. One million free bus journeys were delivered via Kids Go Free, while e-scooter parking enforcement issued 26,000 fines, with compliance above 99%. Future priorities include new stations at Bristol Brabazon and Charfield, 250 green buses, expanded mass transit, and greater local bus control, plus potential visitor levy powers and retaining more tax locally. Other plans include regeneration at Temple Quarter and Brabazon, a skills strategy, tackling child poverty, and Western Forest work.
