💯 Everything jyn says in this post

I've been thinking a lot recently about how, like many people in this society, I grew up believing that there were people who did amazing things, and there were people like me, who did not

And then more recently I started to figure out that dividing people into those two categories was unhelpful to myself in doing interesting things, and probably unfair to whoever I was putting on a pedestal

So even without trying to understand why so many people are taught this belief (probably trauma, and the unexamined beliefs of their parents and teachers), I think that it's one of the most important things we can teach, alongside practical skills, is that, hey, if you practice long enough, you can probably become incredibly skilled at that skill which you admire

@wren6991 @lofty one trick i've seen for dealing with fpga toolchains that i really like is to LD_PRELOAD this bad boy. makes them much less flakey.
"Younger people will have trouble picturing this, but #Google used to nurture an image of being the “good one” among megacorps; they championed #openstandards (except when they didn’t), supported #opensource projects (until they backstabbed them), and used language that corporate wasn’t supposed to use, like #dontbeEvil (until they,in a true dark comedy move, retracted that motto).
I was always an anarchist, abstractly, but in many ways Google was my political awakening."

Finally achieved something I've been wanting to do since the 80s!! I have always wanted to recreate this fantastic display, and today I've achieved it after fixing my poorly Micro vision.
