Tonight I decided to add candy eyes to our chocolate-dipped strawberries, only to learn that when it comes to desserts there is a very, very fine line between “whimsical” and “cursed”

In October 2018, I did a brush pen illustration-a-day of a short poem I'd written - some very old, some completely new, spanning writings from 2007 to the day I was drawing it. It was a fun, reflective series, and every so often I think about doing it again. Here's the first one, "The Forest".

The forest. It can hidethe smallest bird andthe widest sky.- Maiji/Mary HuangMy notes say: “March 27, 2009. An exercise in minimalism.” It was really more an exercise in perspective, but at the time I was writing a lot of very wordy poems. Also holy crap 2009 was 9 years ago whatOriginally posted October 1, 2018. See more: 31 days of poetry and ink

Argh. I have to go back to my “real” job. Writing and metalsmithing have been great, and I’ll still do them when I can, but it’s time to make some money. I know I’m fortunate to have a career to return to, but I am disappointed in myself. I guess 2024 will be my year lol.

Happy New Year! I hope 2023 brings you joy, many stories, a touch of folklore and some wonderful food.

Thank you so much for supporting me this year. If you have enjoyed a podcast or a letter then I have achieved what I hoped. There will be lots of new things to come in 2023 and I hope you will be with me to share them.

The neverwhere of the year. #Holidays #Cheese #Limbo #NeilGaiman
There is snow and ice everywhere. Inside our cottage, three dogs of varying size, shape, and color are draped across soft surfaces snorfling softly. The tree lights are twinkling, and I have a winter mystery to read. Do I really have to go to the gym? #Winter #Cottage #Snow #Lazy #Reading #Dogs
It's that time of year again... To celebrate the 178th anniversary of the publication of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, here's the brilliant Neil Gaiman reading the novel for the New York Public Library podcast https://wp.me/p5l5eh-1id
