Today was my first day back working after a life-uprooting move. Sitting in a bare apartment on a naked mattress wondering - again - why furniture is so damn expensive; I scrolled through some blogs I wrote a few years back (pandemic blogging binge). This one made me smile; "The Calling You are Calling For is Currently Unavailable". If you, too, have spent time today wondering what it is exactly that you are doing...you might like it:

@cosmic_serf I just finished The Raven and the Hart and it was lovely. I so appreciated the diverse, older characters and your thoughtful treatment of religion. I really liked my time inside Canty's head. Thank you for a lovely read :)
i think there should be a game show called Do You Grok It? where contestants have to try to explain a computing concept and the audience/judges vote on who did it best

Ursula Le Guin is rightly celebrated as a great world builder and a nuanced political thinker, but what's standing out most to me reading her short stories is just how vivid and poetic her prose could be. Even with all the praise she's still underrated

Good morning, folks

"In recent days, Saudi representatives pushed at the United Nations global climate summit in Egypt to block a call for the world to burn less oil, according to two people present at the meeting, saying that the summit’s final statement “should not mention fossil fuels.” The effort prevailed: After objections from Saudi Arabia and a few other oil producers, the statement failed to include a call for nations to phase out fossil fuels."

Inside the Saudi Strategy to Keep the World Hooked on Oil

The kingdom is working to keep fossil fuels at the center of the world economy for decades to come by lobbying, funding research and using its diplomatic muscle to obstruct climate action.

So, I'm asking, as embarrassing as it is that I don't have enough diversity in my network to do it on my own:

Can you amplify this to help us find #francophone, #Black, #indigenous, and #Asian #Canadian people, able and willing to do the hard work of helping a group remember to take diverse needs into account at the offset, so we can make a good #SocialSpace for everyone from the get go?

If that sounds like you, bless you, could you let me know so we can get a conversation started?

Thanks.
