Community-oriented microblog for gene regulation scientists. Our lab's life and science is discussed in a separate account @teiflab. Here I host more general news and discussions on the topics of #chromatin, #biophysics, #TFbinding, #CTCF, #cancer, #stemcells, #epigenetics, #cfDNA, #openscience.

My open-science philosophy pre-Mastodon is described here: https://generegulation.org/scientific-twitter/

Theoretical Biophysics

We are running the @TheoBiophysics Twitter and Mastodon channels for open and free science dissemination on Theoretical Biophysics, Quantitative Biology and Computational Life Science. We believe in free science for everyone and run the page on a voluntary basis to enable everyone to enter into

Belated introduction after more than two years on Mastodon 😊
While I post a lot about #Nature, #River, #FlyFishing and #IPA, I use the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe for my research. At some point, I plan to brew #Beer🍺

Some friends are asking if I'll go to Bluesky. I don't want to, for reasons I'll explain. But people there can follow me at

And if you're on Bluesky and follow @ap.brid.gy and let me know, I should be able to follow you from here. Details to follow, including my problems with Bluesky.

There is apparently a way to post from Mastodon to Bluesky

We have an opening for a postdoc in machine learning and genome bioinformatics to work on cancer diagnostics using liquid biopsies. This is in the University of Essex, UK. The application deadline is 20th August. Please boost it! Happy to present this update to our (Jussi Taipale+me) plan to solve the cis-regulatory code using high-throughput assays of non-genomic DNA and ML, online today in Nature.
Despite the plan, the problem is so huge that we are looking to start a global effort in this space. Please email us if you want to join forces!
Thanks to all those who helped shape our thoughts!
