A cavernous area fit for a dragon. 🐉
#NASAWebb revealed more than 200 massive, young stars among the pillars of gas and dust in star-forming region NGC 604. This area is more than 2.7 million light-years from Earth in the Triangulum galaxy: https://bit.ly/4icfWLh
You've probably heard that "we are stardust," but this graphic breaks it down further & tells you what kind of stars your dust came from--and which elements didn't come from stars at all.

The periodic table organizes all the known elements by atomic number, which is the number of protons in each atom of the element. This version of the table, which draws on data compiled by astronomer Jennifer Johnson from Ohio State University, shows our current understanding of how each element found on Earth was originally produced. Most of them ultimately have cosmic origins. Some elements were created with the birth of the universe, while others were made during the lives or deaths of stars. The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will help us understand the cosmic era when stars first began forming. The mission will help scientists learn more about how elements were created and distributed throughout galaxies. The related Tumblr post is here. ||

Take your shots and wear your masks, USA.
Even the CDC says so - just for influenza, even as it unconscionably is not now doing so for COVID:
"Healthy Habits to Prevent Flu"
"When worn by a person with an infection, masks reduce the spread of the virus to others. Masks can also protect wearers from breathing in infectious particles from people around them"
Starting this semester, the University of California San Diego will require all students to complete a climate change course and demonstrate the ability to understand and address climate change.
We should require any political leader taking office to do the same.
Today’s #SpacetoberChallenge is #Moon! I love enhanced colored images that bring out the #geology and chemical content more, like my MINERAL MOON #watercolor from last year.
