I dedicate this account to the issue of fediverse privacy.

Unfortunately we are seeing a widespread use of software as an alternative to corporate networks that does not encrypt private messages and user data.

Mastodon makes it very easy to sniff on users and should be rejected by a community of people with many having a professional background in programming and security.

As I already received a lot of harassment for pointing out facts I prefer to stay private.

@PrototypeFund @blinry @zormit @teamtype @p2panda

Thank you very much for this important contrib! Fediverse needs much more devs that are building privacy into their projects right form the beginning!

One of the best features of teamtype is encrypted peer-to-peer connections, I hope this can be adopted to the fediverse!

@pneutig @marcel_kolaja

The irony reading this on a Mastodon server which has no protection for user data at all and does not come with e2ee for private messages!

Or maybe is this the exact reason why EU officials love Mastodon?

@Gargron

Also a good sticker idea for Mastodon here:

"THE P IN MASTODON IS FOR PRIVACY"

This is dangerous! The next social network must encrypt private user data and bring end to end encryption for private messages by default, otherwise this will be a giant privacy disaster.

Mastodon is absolutely not fit for that purpose and devs do not seem to care about these features.

In 2026 we should not establish social network software that is less secure than mail servers in the 90s.

Big mistake.

@Gina @mellifluousbox @samvie @alexandrageese @jmaris @Mastodon

OF COURSE the governments do LOVE software that does NOT encrypt user data and has no end to end encryption for private messages! This is a paradise for all the agencies that want to spy on you!

Please STOP that grotesque rollout of a software that is actually less secure than email servers in the 90´s.

A replacement for corp networks must guarantee the maximum privacy level that is technically possible.

@elmine @_elena

should add "and must respect privacy with encrypted user data and end to end encrypted private messages"

We need to be careful with this Fandom-ization of the fediverse. Fandom creates blind followers and makes critical thinkers potential enemies of the groupthink.

Mastodon is a giant dangerous experiment that does NOT protect user data and has no e2e encryption!

This is NOT a win for humanity, but creating the next big brother network masked as "cool b/c federated".

We need to build privacy aware networks now!

@liaizon

But can we be sure that all the softwares and orgs mentioned there will protect user data to the max?

@liaizon @cypherhippie

Relations are the most important information for agencies to extract. They want to know your network. What did he say about encryption of this very dangerous data? Do these people think about privacy? I hope the answer will be "yes, they do and here is the spec for an end to end encrypted system that encrypts user data, too".

The "P" in "Fediverse" is for privacy.

@liaizon @andypiper @haubles @Mastodon

Did he use the words "encryption" or "privacy"?
