Hey. Hey guess what. Guess what day it is? It's our birthday, and the Vagina Museum is nine years old today. The world has changed massively in those nine years. We started out with a tweet... and now we're a vibrant community space, dedicated to education and celebration!
Being able to multiple numbers going into the trillions is wild.

I kinda hate the Lunduke is the loudest voice rn about age verification in FOSS distros. I guess the bootheel has finally treaded on something he cares about.

About the game mechanics I envision, there would be resources to gather (gathering, digging, pumping), energy to produce (water wheel, steam turbine, thermal and photovoltaic solar), mechanical power (shafts, gear boxes).

Buoyancy for boats and submarines. And train tracks! With splines to construct large sections easily.

Mechanical parts, pistons, hinges, drills, roller and belt conveyors

So many ideas and so little time to implement them 😅 Feel free to give suggestions and boost!

We know every single step we need to take to completely divest ourselves of fossil fuels. And We've known for years. What's more, We've had a wake up call about our dependency on single use fossil fuels. In 2022. And 2008. And 1991. And 1979. And 1973...

So in 2026, we've already learnt our lesson right? We don't need to worry about supplies of imported single use fossil fuels right?

Hello? *Tap* *tap* is this thing on?

After a couple of weeks with it, I'm committed to moving this game over to Godot. Much as I like Unreal (and I really do) Epic and Tim Sweeney put a massive downer on it. I want to live as ethically as I can in this messed up world, so moving to Godot seems like the right thing for me to do. The engine is lovely, super lightweight, stable and usable with really good documentation and it does everything my games need - it's been an easy transfer so far. So, yeah, let's go..dot !

Imagine living through the 2020's rise of fascism and surveillance, looking at the OS age signal API and going "well this thing, in isolation, is not so bad, I think people are overreacting"

Ok yeah great the thing that could easily be weaponized further isn't so bad yet when viewed in isolation. I'm so glad the last 20 times people were concerned about similar slippery slopes nothing bad at all happened in the long term!

I hate applications that "steal" the focus during startup process. Some of them do this multiple times, at a few seconds interval (yes, I'm looking at you, Eclipse)

When I start my computer, quite often I start the browser and other apps, type an URL in the browser, and half of it ends up written in another app (typically in my source code 🤨)

I don't even see a valid use case for stealing the focus, like, ever?

Who would you nominate for their impact on research? Behind every successful research project are professionals who rarely get the spotlight.

Think of data stewards, IT specialists, librarians and research support staff. They play a crucial role in open science, data management and digital innovation.

Do you know someone who makes a real difference at your institution?

Nominate them and help amplify their impact: https://www.surf.nl/en/events/surf-research-day/research-support-luminary?utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=2026-03-social&utm_kwd=research-support-luminary-award&utm_source=mastodon&utm_content=onderzoek

Anyway, migrants don't commit more crimes. People living in poverty¹ commit more crimes².

This is elementary information anybody with more than two braincells is aware of, and stupidly consistent in just about any country. Anybody still peddling the "immigrants commit more crimes" nonsense is either stupid, or a nazi, or both.

¹Poverty in the country of residence.
²Of course, this is a gross oversimplification, and doesn't mention things like profiling, overpolicing in specific areas, what is considered a "crime", etc.
