@todrobbins Thanks for the help! I knew they weren't private-private but wasn't sure how they actually worked, either!

#AcWriMo update:

I am terrible at checking in regularly about this, and now all my posts about it are over on my previous account.

My goal was to complete a draft of my promotion application document. Happy to say the first full draft was completed yesterday, ahead of schedule!

Taking a break this week for Thanksgiving, then will start editing next week.

#Mastodon101 update:

I just figured out how to "mark as read" the notifications on the web app!

This triumph was short-lived as I just realized I have no idea how to send DMs on here. Are DMs just posts using the mentioned-people-only setting?

Having had cats and now a dog, I can say with confidence that dogs are better. Only cats will poop in your shoes because it hated the party you threw last night.
@wabarr are you hosting your own instance? impressive!
where are all my paleoanthropologists on this thing? #paleoanthropology #evolution #humanevolution #fossils

#Introduction time!
We are a community of archaeologists who are anywhere from novice to avid #Rstats users!

We boost archaeological research using R for any part of the analysis (if it's open!), and occasionally post useful (and often useless) tips on using R.

We're also creating a list to help #Rchaeologists find each other.

The real reason we teach our students flintknapping and to use an atlatl is due to the impending collapse of capitalism.

Also there will be donuts in the faculty lounge on Monday 🍩

Hello Mastodon! This is an #introduction. I’m a writer (book: Spare Parts, which is a history of transplant surgery from the sixteenth century to the present day (yes, they did transplants back then!) Published by Penguin in the UK and Australia, and St Martin’s in North America. Before this, I was a film maker. Actually, I still am, working mostly with museums, universities and healthcare institutions. I’m so excited to learn about and connect with you all!
