Anyone who was born an American and therefore feels superior to someone who had to work to become an American doesn’t know the first thing about being an American.
"Do what you love and the money will follow."
I ate a whole pizza, had a nap and watched TV.
Now we wait.

@jerry @[email protected] i have noticed a divergence of .. "flavor"

the people who want to chitchat about nerd stuff, have conversations, post hobbies, art, pics etc - they all come here.

the people who go to bsky are the ones who want a soapbox - a one-way relationship. they want 'an audience' and they would prefer if that audience largely kept their mouths shut. they want fame, the limelight. paradise for narcisists.

they'll go there
we'll scoop up the nerds :D

Hello everyone, I’m Maartje De Meulder. After spending years on X, I’ve decided to give Mastodon a try.

I’m a senior researcher at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht and I split my time mainly between Belgium, the Netherlands, and Norway.

I’ll be mostly posting about all things language, disability, and technologies, and how they intersect, along with navigating academia.

What upsets me today (it's a quickly moving target) is the apparent lack of empathy for Joe Biden, who has given his life to our nation, who has been a spectacular President, who saved us once from Trump, and who is now being kicked to the curb by fellow (BTW White) Democrats, elite donors, the whole damned press, and many here on the socials. Think what it feels like to be him today. Can we not put ourselves in his shoes?
I’m annoyed that we’ve found a way to spend 100 times more electricity over standard search to have computers confidently provide wrong answers to questions.

If someone had told me 10 years ago, US politics would fall apart because a spray tanned criminal, who swears, rapes, and engages in extramarital sex, would manage to convince religious voters, he was chosen by God…

… I would have thought they were insane.
