Mad props to @camelCaseNick for successfully implementing the first phase of @philippsauberzweig's proposed solution for GNOME Calendar's general layouts and formfactors design overhaul (see https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-calendar/-/issues/1332), a project that has been in the work for many months to solve https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-calendar/-/issues/1007 !

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-calendar/-/merge_requests/542 has landed in the main branch, you can now try it out in the nightly flatpak version.

Update top-level wireframe design for an adaptive calendar (#1332) · Issues · GNOME / gnome-calendar · GitLab

The mockup for the adaptive version of our calendar application was last updated two years ago. Since then, significant implementation progress has been made, along with...

Look, I *really like* the idea of machine learning and actually really want to use ML features that make my life easier/better. Autocorrect/keyboard suggestions? Yeah I’m a fan. Text to speech? Convenient and accessible! Stunning photos from a tiny sensor? Yes please! Categorizing my photos or extracting text from screenshots? Great, useful!

But I do not want to “chat” with an LLM, doubly so when every interaction is keylogged and then used to train more planet-burning BS-spewing.

There's a *huge* difference between "I would like [software] better if they did [idea]" vs "[software] is bad unless the devs do [idea]".

Unless you're the dev, you should take some time and think about how you word that sentence!

After many months, we finally have an upstreamable path for merging /usr in postmarketOS and hence Alpine! Still lots of work to be done, I just ruined one of my test installations LOL. But it's so cool to see it become real: https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/merge_requests/6389

Do NOT test this unless you know what you're doing. There's a non-negligible risk of data-loss. Depends

A bank I'm with made a release of their app requiring an Android version newer than my seven-year-old Huawei P8 lite 2017 is running. I'm locked out of my account since older versions of the banking app aren't supported and it's the second factor for online banking.

(a) Thanks for not notifying me. You know that unsupported updates are hidden by default?
(b) Thanks for pushing me finally to look for Linux on Mobile friendly alternatives. I hope you understand, it's probably with another bank.

I've always had a small list of features I've deemed important for easing switching to Matrix (e.g. third-party identifier resolution like finding contacts by phone number). Recently, more and more groups around me made the switch.
Scrap it! The single most important missing feature, Imho, is invite codes / invite links for otherwise private rooms. Not being able to send a link to everyone that should join the new room adds soooo much friction.

GNOME 48 is out, @pabloyoyoista, @FineFindus, and I celebrated it. With pizza. 🎉🍕 Great to see what this release brought us. 🙌
We did so after revisiting and merging quite a number of things, so we're off to a good start …

Last week, I improved Papers' code around link previews. You'll get in Papers upcoming release. Want me to tease what to get in 49?
We were meeting, as we regularly do:
So, at the same time, @FineFindus, sitting across from me … completely rewrote the thumbnailer … of course in Rust.
All that, while @pabloyoyoista worked on improvements for the context menu for annotations. (Based on @tbernard's¹ great mock-ups for it.)
