The other day I tried a style of KN95 mask that has two tight bands that loop around the back of your head.

I started feeling an awful headache developing within minutes. It started in the same spot my migraines do, too.

Has anyone else in the #MigraineChat community noticed that their head hates certain types of masks?

(To clarify, I am still wearing a mask every time I go out. I just cannot wear that particular style of mask).

I get "visual migraine". I feel no pain, but once or twice per year there's a spot which looks like a kaleidoscope in my field of vision, which over the course of some hours grows then fades.

Other than that I can't drive or read while I have an attack, it doesn't really do anything. Anyway, here's an interesting article on art depicting migraine.

Altered gut microbiota in individuals with episodic and chronic migraine - Scientific Reports

Emerging evidence reveals a close association between gut microbiota and human neurological disorders. The present study aimed to assess whether the composition of gut microbiota in participants with episodic migraine (EM) and chronic migraine (CM) was altered in comparison to that of the controls. This study was a cross-sectional, case–control study. The gut microbiota were evaluated by the partial, targeted sequencing of the 16S rRNA V3–V4 region. This study enrolled 42 and 45 participants with EM and CM, respectively, and 43 controls. Alpha and beta diversities revealed no significant difference among the three groups; however, the microbiota composition at the class, order, family, and genus levels differed significantly between EM and the control, CM and the control, and the EM and CM groups. Moreover, higher composition of PAC000195_g was significantly associated with a lower headache frequency among the five genera that exhibited significantly different microbiota composition in EM and CM. Agathobacter revealed a significant negative association with severe headache intensity. The findings of the present study provide evidence of altered gut microbiota in EM and CM. These findings will help in understanding the course and treatment of migraine.

I blocked off some time Saturday afternoon (ET) for a little virtual #MigraineChat #NYE chit chat for anyone who doesn’t have plans and wants to socialize a bit.

I’m not posting the link publicly, but comment below and I will send you the Google Meet link. 💜

I might also pick a movie to #Teleparty on Sunday. Any interest? Movie suggestions?

I want to stay up until midnight on Saturday to greet the new year, but messing around with my sleep schedule and/or not getting enough sleep in general is one of my #migraine triggers.

I think I’ll need to choose getting enough rest over staying up late.

How about all of you?

Today is not a good day to have a migraine. Tomorrow doesn’t look good either, but obvi my mind has a mind of her own.

Does anybody know if those migraine relief caps work? Got one for Christmas and I just put it in the freezer.
Anybody that has had any experience with these, please let me know in the comments. If not, still let me know what gives you relief! Asking for a friend.

#migraine I am amazingly headache/migraine free two days in a row. I am afraid to celebrate because I might be tempting fate. I use topiramate but it’s not doing nearly enough so I’m hoping the new prescription will help… Nurtec. Anyone else use it?
