Much of the violence has targeted the #BlackCommunity – almost 60% of the reported bias crimes – while other reports include crimes against people based on their #SexualOrientation, #gender and #religion. Teachers in Manatee County, Florida, are being told to make their classroom libraries — and any other "unvetted" book — inaccessible to students, or risk felony prosecution. The new policy is part of an effort to comply with new laws and regulations championed by Governor Ron DeSantis (R). It is based on the premise, promoted by right-wing advocacy groups, that teachers and librarians are using books to "groom" students or indoctrinate them with leftist ideologies.

"The bill contains a broad array of terrifying provisions for transgender people and their families. The most troubling is the inclusion of the phase “consenting to” in its ban on gender affirming care. Although the phrase is likely to target adult caregivers to trans youth, because the age of the ban was raised to 21, IT COULD CONCEIVABLY TARGET TRANS ADULTS18-21 years old CONSENTING TO THEIR OWN CARE."
