Woke up from a vivid dream where I had large marbles just under the skin of my arms, and I had to push them around to find spots for them to fall into. It did not feel very nice.

Had a lovely interaction w/ someone yesterday & that conversation reminded me of a photo I took last yr. My garden last yr was about a 1/3 the size of this years & it seemed as if the bulk of #pollinators were tiny sweat bees & hover flies. That gave me plenty of opportunities to hone my macro skills. What I especially like about this hover fly photo is the clear view of its little halteres (club shape near the wings).

This is another shot of one of the Green Herons that approached within 4-5 meters as it stalked small fish a few days ago. Lighting was not great (10:15 am, sunny), but the shot turned out pretty well, no cropping and minimal post-prod adjustments.

These interesting and attractive birds are about the size of an American Crow (which, in turn, is slightly larger than a Carrion Crow): just leggier and neckier. With loosely articulated cervicals, they can stretch their necks prodigiously. They are also known tool-users, employing twigs, leaves and insects to attract fish. Not considered endangered by conservation ngo's, nevertheless their numbers have declined by half since 1966 in line with the decline of their wetland habitats.

A drawing I did 10 years ago of STC's Super Sonic and Shortfuse the Cybernik.

It's old now, and I can see issues, but I still like how this came out even after all this time! I really wanted to make it look like it could have been a front cover for the comic, and I think I managed it!
