There is something almost naughty about getting AI to do hours of work for you in just a few mins but I am really unsure as to just how guilty or not I should feel.
Yes it's a technological leap, yes it's here to stay. No it's not without serious concerns on multiple fronts and no it should not be the cause of mass unemployment.
History tells us that those poorly placed to weather such change lose and that technology will get refined and improved over time. We are at the "Wild West" stage of AI but the dust will settle and those who keep up and get onboard will be the winners.

Do you remember the surprise announcement of a new social network in Davos this past January? Something that promised to be the "first" European social network?

Its name is #WSocial and it's a fork of #Bluesky. Its founders have ties with European politicians - but there is no official involvement by the EU.

You wouldn't know any of this from media reports because they all rehashed their talking points. So I wrote a post about it, dispelling some myths:

W Social uncovered: the reality behind the hype

An article dispelling myths about W Social, the new European platform that aims to rival X: it is a fork of Bluesky that shares many similarities with Eurosky and requires government ID to sign up.

“The Sergeant at Arms blocks Representative Justin Pearson from Memphis from entering a committee meeting about redrawing the map specifically for the district he represents.

A white officer with a badge, blocking a black congressional member, from joining meeting that specifically targets the black district meant to give representation to people of color.

The segregation is alive and well in the south.” - Brian Garlick

So seeing as I have been a full time #Linux user for over 20 years, why haven't I got my Linux beard yet??

Starting today, USB-C is the mandatory charging standard for all laptops sold in the EU.

We are putting an end to cable clutter and unnecessary costs for citizens.

One cable, any brand, less electronic waste.

We are delivering a simpler, more sustainable digital future for Europe.

I am confused here, the first two options appear to be the same but the second is 140€ more for the same 1 TB drive, then the 2TB drive is over 5x more expensive for 2x the capacity...presumably AI has eaten all the big drives...

Twenty EU sanctions packages since February 2022. Russian oil, banks, oligarchs, shadow-fleet tankers, propaganda outlets—all sanctioned.

Yet Rosatom runs the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, houses 21 weapons-production entities inside the corporation, builds components for the Oreshnik ballistic missile, has collected €1.6 billion from EU uranium contracts since the invasion began—and is not sanctioned.
