Ukraine's parliament passed Law 4835-IX on 7 April—an IMF-mandated extension of the wartime 5% military levy.
Inserted at committee stage, no named author: a rewrite of Article 32 of the Law on MP Status. MP now "does not report and bears no legal responsibility" for $4,555 in monthly state compensation.

A Ukrainian MP accused of ties to Russian security services and paying Russia's National Guard to guard his Crimea property has been released from custody and placed under house arrest.
Prosecutors say payments for that protection amounted to financing an occupying force.
MP Shufrych, accused of financing Russia's war through a Crimea property deal, moves to house arrest after sanctions blocked his own bail payment.
Trump extended the ban on Russian-affiliated vessels entering US ports through spring 2027, citing Russia's actions as a continuing national emergency.
It is the second consecutive year he has renewed the Biden-era measure — weeks after his administration eased oil sanctions and delisted Russian individuals.
ISW on yesterday's air attack:
"Russian forces conducted the sixth-largest series of drone and missile strikes throughout the day on April 15 and overnight into April 16, using over 700 strike vehicles, killing at least 17 and injuring at least 100 civilians."
Russian forces have launched seven strike series consisting of 700 or more drones and missiles, three series of which Russian forces launched within the past month.

The fire at Tuapse's oil terminal is still burning — more than a day after Ukraine's drone strike on the night of 16 April.
Russia has deployed 177 personnel and 56 units of equipment to fight it. Ash is falling on residential streets. Locals report an oily film on the sea surface near the shore.
