And not long after, the first mammals, our ancestors, appeared.

It’s particularly relevant to the #QuoteToot debate and the problems outlined are perhaps what OG mastodon people are trying to avoid.

Post quoting is inherently designed for attention-seeking behaviour, dogpiling, ridicule, and spreading hate. I hope Mastodon never adds it. Ever. I'm here to get away from the follower count race, not recreate it.

Not having post quoting also encourages people to *add* to the conversation, instead of merely mindlessly amplifying popular voices without adding anything of value.
