@hollybrigstocke @JugglingWithEggs it was the #HouseBuildersFederation that lobbied to trash Code for Sustainable Homes. All social housing was meant to be Code 6 (nearly zero c) by 2013 & all new housing by 2016. Tories have put us back 10 years and dragged millions of people into fuel poverty inspire of living in new houses!

@passivehouseplus The #UK government is now free from #EU law preventing #VAT reductions on #retrofit projects. Changing the #tax regimes will certainly promote more retrofits going further with #insulation levels etc Why are we subsidising the building of poor performing new builds as opposed to #deepgreen #retrofits?

@hembrow Probably similar tax rules as here where new housing is zero rated with VAT whereas retrofit is mostly 20% VAT. Big tax incentive to knock down and start again. UK treasury used to claim coldn't change because of EU laws but will it change now???? Probably not!
