I used to live close to this park and went there to breathe deep when I was stressed. It also has a zoo, and less than half a mile walk to the Studio Ghibli museum if you are into animation movies.
A taboo to do here, but apparently not heeded, is that couples shouldn't ride a boat on the river here as the goddess enshrined in the shrine pictured gets jealous and breaks them up...
The statue is in memory of an elephant called 'Hanako' who lived to be 69 in the zoo in the park.
