The profile notes feature on Mastodon is very useful but also perhaps slightly unclear if you've never used it before.

It works like this:

Go to a person's profile by clicking on their name, look for the "Note" section and then click on "Click to add note", start typing and it saves it automatically. The note is only visible to you.

This is really handy if you interact with lots of people and need to remember (for example) why you follow someone etc.

@konrad @histodons ANU has a collection, as i remember, of Korean images.
@kdc Then I guess let me google it first... ugh. I am confused. Not seeing what you're seeing I guess?

It's unclear where Kim Ou-joon will go or what he will do. He will succeed no matter what he does, and his future prospects are in no way jeopardised. What will happen to TBS now that Kim is removing himself is still up in the air.

This is impressive student work on the #GenerationGap between #youth and the #elderly in #Korea today, with a focus on #language. The intro drags a bit, but stick with it, I promise this is really good.

@amberlough I was just coming here to delete and reshare. I feel like an idjit!

Testing my Mastodon posting with this good intro to the brand new Union of Southern Service Workers, written by one of the founding members:

Workers' unions in the South are rare. We're changing that now.

The South's racist past is harming workers today. Unions can help us build a new future.

For too long, Black and brown workers in the South have been systematically excluded from labor protections and union rights by racist politicians.

It is so embarrassing that some #Korean #universities, including
#Yonsei where I did my MA, still require these sorts of propagandistic forced #indoctrination classes. Pride in history and thanks to founders of universities is possible w/out this.

#forced #religious #classes are not the way to create more #Christians, rather the opposite.

Mandatory chapel comes as a nasty surprise for some students in Korea

Linara Makhatova, a 20-year-old student from Kazakhstan, was entering her first semester at Yonsei University in Seoul last year when she discovered an unexpected graduation requirement: A Christianity class and two years' worth of chapel.

The next one was a very sensitive exploration of #suicide in the #Korean context. It's a topic #students worry about, and I see it often, but this was done really well on several different levels. https://youtu.be/_zD72FD6DDU
