I'm a fully blind guy (he/him & they/them both fine) in my mid 20s from The southwest US, but I lived in the Pacific North West for most of my life, Including Canada.
I like sound design, audio games, audio dramas, accessibility, firearms (it's complicated), weird bits of history, and learning about people's unique experiences.
I'm an empathetic but somewhat cynical skeptic who tends to piss people off without really meaning to, I'm politically independent, and I can be pretty funny sometimes.

I'm really liking this #free randomized #SciFi text strategy #game called #seedship where you control the AI of a colony ship full of Human survivors in search of a new planet to call home. Along the way you must make hard choices which will effect the colony's chance of success, but also how they live afterwards. You visit various planets until you choose one that seems suitable to put down roots on, but wait too long and your ship will likely be so damaged that by the time you get their, you won't be much help to the colonists.
I've ended up with some very interesting civilizations!

First reaction after installing Apple Beta 2 on Mac (iPhone is still updating): Pitch changes are still broken with VO and multi case strings are still strung together with Eloquence, and I still can't control VO through Applescript. On the other hand though, we got even more per-voice settings for Eloquence. The pitch base parameter now works, and we got 2 new switches. Phrase prediction and abbreviation dictionary. Very happy about that last one!

It seems that BSI has received some fixes in iOS 17 dev beta 2. typing echo now works again, spacing speaks reliably, and I have yet to have the keyboard disappear after using BSI.

US approves chicken made from cultivated cells, the nation's first 'lab-grown' meat

Chicken grown from animal cells, not from slaughtered birds, can now be sold in the U.S. The Agriculture Department issued approvals Wednesday to California firms Upside Foods and Good Meat to sell the products, known as “lab-grown” or “cultivated” meat. The meat is grown in steel tanks, using cells that come from a living animal, a fertilized egg or a special bank of stored cells. The goal is to eliminate harm to animals and drastically reduce the environmental impacts of raising them. The meat will initially be sold only at upscale restaurants.
