Please admire the birthday cake I got for my partner’s 50th.

Tim Berners-Lee proposed a hypertext system that would sit atop the internet #OTD in 1989, and now we all live in it.

Happy 34th birthday to [sweeps arm in a grand gesture, revealing this Hieronymus Bosch tableau of the damned all around us] the Web.

I’ve somehow stumbled across Means TV, the world's first “worker-owned,
anti-capitalist streaming service” and it is glorious. #SeizeTheMemes

Turns out the existence of an "alpha" wolf is a myth.

It was based on old/bad experiments, conducted when unrelated wolves were thrown together in captivity.

In actual wild wolves, packs are just families. There's no dominant alpha battling for the top spot -- and in the rare cases there is, it's an alpha *female* wolf.

Insert obvious implications for the use of this term in human societies.

Is the Alpha Wolf Idea a Myth?

The idea that wolf packs are led by a merciless dictator, or alpha wolf, comes from old studies of captive wolves. In the wild, wolf packs are simply families

It was only a matter of time: a Texas lawmaker has proposed a bill that would force ISPs like Comcast and AT&T to completely block websites containing information about how to obtain an abortion.

This is why we need #netneutrality & a functioning FCC. https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2023/03/texas-republican-wants-isps-to-block-a-wide-range-of-abortion-websites/
